If you would like to help the animals at the shelter but aren't interested in cleaning and walking then this is for you. We are always in need of volunteers to organize events and help raise money. Below are some ideas to help with this. If interested please sign up for one of the positions and it will be yours to manage. Training will be provided for the one you are interested in. By volunteering for these positions, it will allow me more time at the rescue. Thank you for helping!
Fundraising Coordinator
Become the coordinator for all the events, fundraisers and dinners. You would need to coordinate volunteers to be on your fundraising committee and hold meetings with the volunteers to organize things. Training and guidance would be provided but ultimately we are looking for someone to take this position over.
Spay-getty and No-balls Dinner - annual event
Coordinate the event by recruiting volunteers, gathering donations, buying and preparing food, organizing auction items, etc. This is an annual event so the foundation is laid for this event. It tends to be one of bigger events and requires a lot of work. Training and guidance will be provided.
Volunteer Coordinator
Become the coordinator for all the volunteers. Responsibilities would include training volunteers in the care of the animals, coordinating volunteer schedules, handling problems among volunteers and holding meetings to update/educate as needed. Training and guidance will be provided but ultimately we are looking for someone to take this over.
Quilt Coordinator
Make an animal-lover’s quilt! Ask your friends to decorate each fabric square with an animal protection message. Ask a local crafts store if they’d like to donate fabric. If you decide to do this project, you will be in charge of the whole thing and will have to recruit your helpers. Below are some ideas for animal protection messages:
If you want to test cosmetics, why do it on some poor animal that hasn't done anything?
If slaughterhouses had glass walls, we would all be vegetarian
Many of animals know you by your soul but very few humans do
Respect the animals
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened
An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language
A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere
You can always tell about somebody by the way they put their hands on an animal
Healing hearts one paw at a time
These are just a few ideas. Your volunteers can use some of their own thoughts. Have fun!
Chili Dinner
Coordinate food donations from businesses and people, gather volunteers to help out at the dinner, advertise and anything else you might think would help bring on donations. Training and guidance will be provided.
Doggie Sweater in the Window?
Help with turning secondhand goods into treasures for sale. Become the coordinator for this terrific idea. Gather donations from businesses and people of gently used animal clothing, people sweaters and t-shirts (please make sure they are gently used as they will be cut to make clothes for animals), collars, halters, leases or anything dog/cat related. Recruit volunteers that are willing to help wash, sew and help at the store front part of the shelter.
